Benefits Access Volunteers

Benefits Access Volunteer Interest Form

Did you know that 27% of Idahoans are eligible for but not receiving SNAP benefits? This includes 64% of seniors and 29% of working Idahoans. The Task Force’s goal is to leverage our community members to get more people enrolled in this crucial benefit. The Task Force is seeking benefits access volunteers who will provide SNAP eligibility and enrollment assistance to Idahoans. By providing sustainable food assistance support as opposed to short-term relief, benefits access volunteers empower more Idahoans to access the support they need to put food on the table.

By offering time and knowledge, benefits access volunteers can help bridge the hunger gap in Idaho and ensure more people get the resources they need. Whether it’s by providing informal assistance in the community, formally providing SNAP application assistance via the mRelief platform, or helping the Task Force at tabling events, our volunteers help bring our vision for a hunger free Idaho to life.

Why should you consider benefits access volunteerism with the Task Force?

  • Increase Impact: Volunteers amplify the reach of the Task Force to increase the impact of our work statewide.

  • Provide Essential Services: Volunteers provide eligibility and enrollment assistance to interested individuals, with the end goal of getting people enrolled into SNAP and receiving their benefits.

  • Foster Community: Volunteers help create a healthier, more equitable community where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

  • Inspire Others: Volunteers work to create lasting change and impact.

  • Future Opportunities: Volunteers with lived experience have the potential opportunity to join the Idaho Community Action Network (I-CAN).

  • Flexibility: Volunteers will also set their own hours, and choose whether to volunteer virtually or in-person (or both!).
